The Bear's Parnassus Book Club

For Readers and Wits

Ah, how good it is,” wrote Rainer Maria Rilke, “to be among people who are reading.”

For those who love reading, there are few things more fulfilling than sharing your enthusiasm with fellow lovers of literature.

It is for this reason that we created The Bear’s Parnassus Book Club: to offer you a virtual home where you can wax lyrical about literature alongside new bookish friends from around the world.

Imagine the warmest of settings, the most convivial of company, where the books are good and the conversation even better.

Each month we champion one long and one short-form piece of writing. You’ll find writers like Willa Cather and Grahame Swift sharing shelf space with Elizabeth Bishop and Alice Munro. Complimenting these literary luminaries is art: each month we introduce an artist or piece of visual art that expands on the concerns of our literary exploration. Together we’ll travel across the  literary and artistic world – from Paris to Prince Edward Island, Maine to New Mexico.
